Bumps on the head and other fun adventures

Since getting back from our trip down to Mississippi and Texas, we have yet to have a calm week.  We arrived back just in time for the ice storm here in Wilmington and were out of power for 3 days.  We survived and ended up having great family time.  The following week, Matt was sick and had to be taken to the ER on Wednesday night. He was finally diagnosed with bronchiolitis and was put on steroids and albuterol.  The combo turned him into crazy baby and we ended up in the ER on Thursday night with a cut head.  Poor Matt got 3 little staples in his head. This week, we were able to play host to a young couple interested in joining MBK next year.  They are interested in doing orphan ministry in a city about 2 hours south from us.  It was a great time of fellowship and conversation.

We are hoping for a calm week or 2 (or more) until Miss Olivia decides to join us.  I am working on plans for summer camp and seeking opportunities for fundraising, including speaking at churches.

Please continue to pray for us as we wait for little Olivia’s arrival and as we plan for all of our fun adventures for this summer!

Summer Camp is Coming!

pyramid2We’re off to discover the ancient and mysterious land of Egypt. We will follow Joseph from his father’s house  to Potiphar’s house to prison and finally to the palace.  We will see how God used Joseph to save his family and God’s people.

We need your help to send 50 kids to camp.  Like last year, we are planning on 25-3camel0 kids from Stroiesti and the surrounding area and 20 kids from the Orphanage.    This year we are adding a teen camp in August.  We are planning on 30-35 teens to join us at camp.  We need $9,000 to take all 50 kids to kids camp  and 30 teens to teen camp plus kitchen helpers and   Romanian volunteers.  Currently, the kids are earning points in Sunday school and have started to earn points with good grades in school!

The cost is $120 per child–same as the last 3 years!  That $120 provides one week of camp;  3 good meals (prepared by Bogdan and his kitchen crew) plus 2 snacks each day (this is more than they get at home); transportation to and from camp on theegypt 1 train; toiletry items; craft projects, game and sports time, prizes, solid Bible lessons twice a day, and a great team of Romanian and American believers to supervise and guide these young campers!

Send your sponsorship to: My Brother’s Keeper, PO Box 11, Roxbury, PA, 17251 (Please put Summer Camp 2014 in the memo line); For Paypal sponsorship go to http://www.mbk.ro

We’re back

We had a great time traveling around visiting sponsors, friends and family.  We only ran into bad weather once, driving through Dallas, but mom did a great job and we made it through.  The bad weather did mean we had postpone our trip to the Nashville area, but we are looking forward to visiting our friends and sponsors in that area at the end of May.

Thank you to everyone who made our fundraising trip a success.
