On the road…

We’ve been Stateside for less than 2 weeks and tomorrow, Lord willing, we head out on a 3 week fundraising tour.  We’re going to Mississippi, Texas, and Tennessee to share what God is doing in Romania at 6 different churches.  We looking forward to seeing family, friends and sponsors.

Please pray for us on the road.  We have over 2500 miles to drive (with a toddler!).  We are looking forward to seeing what God has planned for us.

Christmas Program at Diakonia

Our last Christmas program of the year was at Diakonia church. The children did the same play from Stroiesti, but it of course had its own flair! All the children in the program received a Christmas boxes.  Since we had run out of boxes from America, the church leaders bought (yes, bought–there is a charity here that sells some of their Christmas boxes from England) for the little ones in the church, including Matt. They received their boxes at the rehearsal the day before.

The kids and teens did a great job with the play. One of the young members of the church is Maria who is only 1 year old.  She played Baby Jesus and was so cute and well behaved.  Matt and his little friend, Sarah, played little lambs and followed the shepherd very well.  The teens were good sports and participated in the program with no problems.  The children’s choir ended the program with some lovely songs.

Christmas Program at the Orphanage

We were so happy to be invited to the Christmas play at the orphanage.  The kids did a great job.  We really enjoyed it.

We received about 20 Christmas boxes specifically for the orphanage.  There are 130 kids and teens there.  The orphanage receives Christmas boxes from Germany for all the children (since the program was open to the public, there were even boxes for all the guest, even Matt).  With the boxes we received, we made a list of children who were at camp and held them after the program.  The 20 boys and girls got two boxes this year.  They were really happy.  The orphanage staff has asked us to concentrate on the puzzles and games for the apartments instead of Christmas boxes for the kids;  these puzzles, games and group craft activities are producing great teamwork and developmental progress in the kids.  We’ll work on this for next year.  I did get a chance to talk to some of the kids and they shared that they really enjoyed the games and puzzles.  One apartment of girls had already finished a 1000 piece puzzle and it was glued and put on the wall.  They were already tackling another one!

Thank you to everyone who made boxes for the children at the orphanage. Enjoy these pictures of smiling faces:
