First Quarter Review

We have had a such a busy first quarter of 2018!  I can’t believe it is already April.

Each month we have done some activities with the children in the special needs orphanage. In January, we took the children to the natural science museum in they city. (It isn’t very impressive, but they had a live snake exposition, and that was cool!) We then took the children to McDonald’s, where one of the employees had prepared crafts for the children. In February, the children were sick so we visited them. We brought oranges and pro-biotics! We also brought some toys to the smaller children. In March, we had a craft day with pizza for the children. This week, we took the kids to McDonald’s to do an Easter craft and eat!

In February, when second semester began, I finished my “maternity leave” and started teaching English classes at Stroiesti and Zaharesti schools. I had been teaching to kindergarten classes since September, but now I have 4 kindergarten classes and 5 elementary classes.

Sunday school is going strong in the village. We have a new couple, who is able to help out about once or twice a month. This is a great blessing to me. We are finishing up the book of Esther and will move into the New Testament this spring.

Each Friday, we have a program at our church for the young children. It is like a Sunday school, but on Friday evenings. I usually prepare the crafts and worksheets each week.

I have been very busy planning for camp. We have 3 camps this year and so I need to be more organized than usual! We are still looking for sponsor, so please let me know if you are able to sponsor a camper from the village or orphanage.

Speaking of  orphanages: we have not been able to do much with the Dorohoi orphanage. We are no longer allowed to share the Gospel with the children. We will try a camp with a hidden message, but we are unsure of what the future will hold for our relationship with this orphanage. We will be able to continue to give the children Christmas boxes.

Bogdan worked at different camps all fall and winter.  With the money he saved up he was able to plant an orchard. We now have 169 trees in our back field. I am excited to see how it grow and will “patiently” wait 5 or 6 years for the fruit to appear!

Our children are growing and are a blessing. Matt just turned 6 and Olivia will turn 4 next week. Sweet Sydney will be one in May. The big kids love kindergarten and are thriving at the Christian school in the city. We are so fortunate that my parents were able to pay the tuition for them to go there. Sydney is crawling and very much wants to walk.  She is such a good baby and so easy going. I think it comes from tagging along from day one!

We thank you for all of your support and prayers. Please contact us when you can.
