With Gabriel at camp 2009
There are so many children in need in Romania. These children need the love of Jesus.
God has called me to go to Romania as a missionary.I live in Suceavea and I work in the village of Stroiesti. I am teaching English classes in the school for Kindergarten to 4th grade students. Along with a team of Romanian Christians, I have Sunday school on Sunday afternoons. At Sunday school, we sing, listen to stories and lesson, make art projects, play games, and learn verses. Recently, the kids decided they wanted to learn the “Our Father” in English. I have started mentoring some of the older kids while tutoring them and trying to prepare them to enter high school next year. However, the world is always changing, so I will do whatever it is God has called me to do.
Please pray for me as I start on this journey on which God has called me. Pray for the children of Romania who I will encounter.
Thanks, Melissa

hey Melissa,
You don’t know me, but I get alerts from google about Oradea.
I just got back from a two month missionary trip to Oradea in August. I too feel God’s calling to live in Romania.
Maybe you know of Centru Crestin Salem Oradea?
It’s such a blessing to stumble upon your blog.
God bless you!

Hey Melissa,
I’m glad to hear you’re still over in Romania helping the kids there. I am applying for your old job…but the DVS doesn’t have my record for ever volunteering there so I was wondering if I could use you as a reference. I just found the wish list and will send you some stuff for the kids soon. Hope you are having a wonderful time!

Hi Melissa, great to see what the Lord is doing through you in Romania.
In 2007 while I was working with you at the camp in Romania I could see your love for the kids, and I am so glad you have gone back.
Tell Bogdan i said hi,back then at the camp i remember some of the other kids teasing him because he was cross eyed,I am so glad you are helping to get his eyes fixed.
Mel, you seem to be doing your thing and doing your best to change the lives of others. I applaud you. I do my part here in the States trying to curb youths’ focus away from gang involvement. Had a 16-year old today under $750,000 bond that hosted a GIRL to join by doing a “kill”. MS-13 or die (or give him $100 to get out). My spirit is getting broken by the lack of seeing an end to all this. You know I’m not a religious person, but I am in tune with my spiritual side. I’m ready to give up on all these crazy, going-nowhere people and say screw it. Any thoughts? I’m thinking of moving off the grid for good.
He Melissa,
just found your blog by mistake..was searching for mennonites in suceava, god knows why….and your blog popped out.
Well i worked in Dorohoi, which you might know, 2 years ago, in a childrens village. And we went every week to Suceava for shopping, and getting milk from the mennonites for our school….
So what do you do there`? Volunteering like i did?
